A two-semester distance learning program designed for students who wish to pursue a career in teaching.  The course prepares the student for entering the field of education
through specialized knowledge relevant to diverse teaching methods, educational psychology, and evaluation & assessment.  One of the main objectives is to be able to share this
knowledge with other teachers through workshops and seminars.

El Diplomado en Pedagogía es un programa académico a distancia para alumnos que desean incursionar en la carrera de la docencia.  Tiene una duración de 400 horas en dos
semestres de estudio.  Prepara al alumno para ingresar al campo de la enseñanza a través de conocimiento especializado relevante a las distintas metodologías, psicología

The Masters in TESOL  is a four-semester degree program with a broad range of courses.  The program aims to equip the student with the linguistic knowledge, cultural
understanding, and pedagogical training essential to the various aspects of TESOL including curriculum design, materials development, methodologies, classroom procedures, and
assessment.  The program also offers students practicum opportunities to gain first-hand practical experience in the field.

The College welcomes professionals from any field or discipline.  The Masters in TESOL Curriculum is designed taking into account change of careers for those who are just
beginning to teach English as a Second Language.

The College offers the Masters in TESOL to prepare competent and conscientious professionals in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL).  Through its
Advanced English programs Teachers College intends to encourage the development of leadership in professional educators, to help practitioners understand and act upon an
integration of theory and practice and to deepen and enhance professional capacity through research, repertoire, and reflection.

To submit an application for enrollment in the Masters in TESOL, follow this procedure:

Complete a 1-2 page professional statement addressing the factors that influenced your decision to specialize in TESOL.  Why do you want to do a Masters in TESOL?  What will it
represent to your personal and professional life?  The first part of your statement should be a brief personal history including role models, courses and  any prior experience
working with children and adults.  

The second part of your statement should identify one important issue in education and should describe the different points of view represented in the debate surrounding this
issue.  Suggested topics include but are not limited to, bilingual education in Mexico, issues concerning language education for migrant children in the US,  the role of
constructivism  in the ESL classroom, how research on multi-intelligences has influenced teaching practices in the ESL classroom,  and the use of computer technology within the
teaching/learning framework.

IMPORTANT: TOEFL RESULTS ARE REQUIRED FOR BOTH NATIVE AND NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS OF ENGLISH. STUDENTS MUST DEMONSTRATE COMPETENCY IN ALL LINGUISTIC SKILLS
